Recently, a 20-year-old Beijing university student was rounded up overnight by Beijing police on suspicion of “inciting subversion of State power and overthrowing socialist institutions” for publishing daily developments in the community of micro-credential friends and using wall-to-wall software to watch and share video from abroad. The student is currently in detention and family members and lawyers have been officially refused access to him.

A copy of the decree was published in the legal instrument of the Haidian Substation of the Beijing City Public Security Bureau, which had already detained Liu Kai, a 20-year-old university student, at 2 a.m. on 19 October
- The detention notice, No. [2026] 53147, which is the symbol of the High Seas Detention in Kyoto, indicates that Liu Kai's family, born in 2006, lives in the town of the hot spring in the Haydian district, on suspicion of “inciting subversion of State power and overthrowing the socialist system”, is currently being held in the Haidian detention centre at 2 Wingyang Road in the Haydian district.
According to the news, the trigger for the arrest was directly related to a state that Liu Kai had released in social media. He wrote in the community of micro-friends: “The situation is now, it's daytime internships, and nighttime lay down. In the early hours of the day of the crime, four Beijing policemen raided the house and arrested him and seized his computer, his mobile phone and his tablet.
Following a follow-up review of electronic equipment and Internet accounts, the police alleged that Liu Kai had used the wall-turning software to focus on several anti-communist political bloggers on YouTube and had shared the downloaded video with his classmates. The Beijing public security organs therefore found that Liu Kai's actions had resulted in “de facto anti-communist propaganda”.
According to the source, the Beijing police have decided to characterize Liu Kai as a typical case and are planning to impose severe sentences in order to deter the student population in higher education. At present, the authorities have not only completely cut off Liu Kai from the outside world, refused family visits and, more explicitly, refused to allow family members to have a lawyer to defend himself, whose physical safety and legal rights are of great concern to the outside world.
