In recent days, a shocking driver's cut-off of complaints has triggered a huge web-based wave, pushing the growing tension between the Internet car and the same city's cargo platform (e.g., dripping, cargo latches) and the bottom driver again to the fore. This violent cut-off not only reflects the plight of casual workers, but also tears the ugly scars of a platform that is emptied of its own radiant clothes, and of a vacuum in the power of the algorithm and labour rights.

The ridiculous defense of “sharp” and ineffective communication mechanisms

In this transcribed cut-off, the cause of the controversy is the common “cost problem”. In his description of the complaint, the driver, angryly, stated that the refusal of the client to pay the high-speed fee had eventually turned into a violation by the driver and was determined by the platform to be “driver duty to cancel the order”.

It is a chillingly extreme way of defending the rights of drivers. After the injustice, the driver not only used the harsh words “Fuck you B” and “Dog-Ray” in the complaint, but also threatened to cut off a single client and then to cut people off at the platform with the “boys” already ready. As a silent deterrent, the driver added two photographs with sharp knives to the picture.

However, the most ironic point of the whole incident was that the page clearly showed the four main words “complaint success” and was accompanied by a systematic reminder that “the complaint was successful after the Platform had verified”. A conventional dispute that should have been based on facts (the client's refusal to pay the high-speed fee should have been borne by the client) left the driver desperate in the normal channel of appeal, but was passed by the system “verified” quickly after the knife was revealed and the death threat was issued. This “coercive” “coercive” logic reveals the extreme rigidity of the Platform's daily dispute-management mechanisms. When rules are harsh on honest people, when threats of violence become the only effective leverage for rights, the platform is in fact forcing the bottom workers to extremes.

Black box and algorithm exploitation: the modern camel sapphire that was forced into the dead corner

The “scalter appeal” is not an isolated case, but is the corollary of the long-standing pressure by the Platform on the driver's group limits. Whether it is dripping or larvae, the platform has absolute pricing and individualization powers.

In order to gain a share in the fierce market competition, the platform has been pushing prices to the ice point through “a sip price” and “a special discount bill”, and the cost of this share of the yield has been transferred almost entirely to the driver. At the same time, the untransparent “black box” has left the driver with a heavy cost for his passengers, a significant discount on the driver's receipt and a mystery of the high cost of the platform services. Under the algorithm, drivers who refuse a low-price bill are systematically reduced in weight and face “no one can take it” penalties. To sustain their livelihoods, they are forced to accept cheap exploitation and to compensate for the shrinking of transport prices by being on the stand-off for 12 to 16 hours a day.

Many drivers also entered the “rent-car trap” woven by Platform and Cooperative Leasing Corporations. Drivers carrying heavy car loans in the form of “leases” or high deposits face fixed costs of hundreds of dollars per day. This heavy asset and high liability binding has completely deprived drivers of bargaining power and exit mechanisms, turning them into modern “camel sanctuaries” trapped in the system.

The power of one power and double standards: the systemic shackles of inequality

The unequalness of authority and responsibility is reflected in the design of the Platform ' s rules. The cancellation of orders by the passengers or cargo owners is often at no cost, and drivers are often subjected to severe sanctions for direct withholding, credit credits and even seals, when confronted with a dispute, as in the case of “driver duty cancellation” hats on the screenshot without thorough examination.

In addition, the system, in pursuit of its response rate, often imposes “discretionary singles” several kilometres away, with the cost of empty fuel and time being borne entirely by the driver himself. In the face of unreasonable clients, the platform's passenger service is often treated in a cold-treatment manner, “and slurry” or mechanized, by throwing the operational risks that the platform should have borne (e.g., escape orders, through-passer disputes) to the most vulnerable drivers.

The "intermediary" under the coat of rights vacuum

The reason why the platform dared to squeeze drivers with impunity is rooted in the wrong position in labour relations. In registration agreements, major web platforms often package themselves in a smartly packaged form as an “independent third-party information intermediary service”. Through a paper-based agreement, the platform successfully evaded the legal obligations of the employer — no minimum salary, no five-risk one-year premium, and no occupational injury insurance.

When drivers are tired at night or when they are in the opposite direction of passengers because of disputes, the platform is always able to pull out of the way as “platform without responsibility”. The current labour relations determination standards lag behind the casual economy, which makes the rights of Internet-based and freight drivers difficult and makes them vulnerable to drifting on the margins of the legal protection net.

When cold algorithms become whip-slashers, when a one-key complaint becomes a trigger for forcing bottom-level trajectories, and if web-based platforms continue to become obsessed with the raging of flows and capital, and exploit drivers with grey areas, they will face not only heavy blows from the regulatory sector, but also the heavy cost of paying for bottom-level survival crises for society as a whole. A successful “stabbing knife” is a myth of a systemic loophole, but without changing the nature of exploitation it will eventually turn into a reality tragedy that cannot be reversed.

The relevant reporting and institutional context

Edition Note: The above-mentioned cut-off diagrams show only the description of the complaint and the results of the “complaint success” and do not provide a separate proof that the Platform changed its determination as a result of the threat; The authors comment on such causal judgements. Reports do not support threats of violence against clients or platform personnel.
