Nanjing rights activist Yu Ping went missing after submitting a joint complaint letter to the Jiangsu Province Public Security Department, demanding the release of orphan girl Ye Feixia, who has been "mentally ill" and tortured for over half a year. This incident has sparked strong social concern and support for the issue of privatization of public power.

On the afternoon of July 24, 2026, a suffocating "disappearance" incident occurred in front of the Jiangsu Province Public Security Department's reception room in Gulou District, Nanjing.

After entering the reception room and formally submitting a joint complaint letter demanding the release of Ye Feixia, a rights activist orphan girl who has been illegally detained in a mental hospital for a long time, Yu Ping lost contact with the outside world. As of July 29, Yu Ping has been missing for five days, and her personal safety is worrying.

A kind-hearted citizen, who was simply exercising her constitutional right to supervise and trying to help a persecuted weak person in her city through regular petition channels, "evaporated" in front of the provincial law enforcement agency's door. This incident not only sparked strong public outrage and concern from human rights activists but also brought to light the long-standing abuse of power, private black jails, and even the use of medical institutions to implement torture by the local authorities in Nanjing's Liuhe District.

A Complaint Letter, Exploding a Half-Year-Long "Black Jail" Torture Chain

Behind Yu Ping's risky appeal is the tragic experience of Ye Feixia, an orphan girl from Zhutang, Liuhe District, Nanjing, who has been suffering for years.

According to multiple sources, Ye Feixia, who lost her parents, was repeatedly retaliated against by local authorities during her lawful rights defense process. On January 22, 2026, Ye Feixia was intercepted by police and has since been in a state of long-term disappearance, illegally detained in a mental hospital for over half a year. This is just the tip of the iceberg of her systemic persecution over the years.

Investigations have shown that the local stability maintenance forces' persecution of Ye Feixia has long presented a high degree of "violence" and "interest":

Public Funds Bounty and Private Prison: Before the 2024 National Two Sessions, under the direct instructions of Zhou Xiaojun, the former director of the Liuhe District Petition Bureau, police officers, and village officials, Ye Feixia was followed and threatened. On March 29, 2024, Ye Feixia was kidnapped and illegally detained in a rural old house. Stability maintenance personnel were rewarded with 500 yuan per day per person to guard her, depriving her of sleep, insulting her, and beating her.

Forced Arrest and Window Sealing: After being detained for over 20 days, Ye Feixia once escaped, but the local authorities publicly abused their power, issuing a 10,000 yuan bounty to capture an innocent woman. Later, the former director of the Zhutang Police Station, Ge Daoyu, and others broke into Ye Feixia's mother's former unit, took her away, and imprisoned her in a room with a courtyard. The guards covered the windows with cloth, trying to drive her "mad" in the darkness, accompanied by long-term beatings and starvation.

Serious Injury and White Coat Evil: Ye Feixia was once sent to the hospital due to serious injuries, with bleeding wounds that seeped through the gauze, and was later transferred to a large hospital for suture. Even more shocking is that during her forced hospitalization, the director of the Nanjing Gulou Hospital, Wang Jun, continuously injected large amounts of harmful drugs into Ye Feixia's body for over 10 days, directly causing her severe sequelae, including swollen and painful legs, and trembling fingers.

"Solving the Problem" or "Solving the Person Who Raised the Problem"?

Ye Feixia's experience is not an isolated case, but Yu Ping's disappearance has pushed such violence to a new level.

Yu Ping herself is not a direct stakeholder in this incident; she simply acted out of a sense of justice, organizing materials signed by people from all walks of society into a written appeal, hoping to reflect the situation through the official petition channel claimed to be "unobstructed". However, the zero distance between "entering the reception room" and "disappearance" directly tore off the disguise of lawful administration.

The editorial department of "Focus on China" pointed out:

"Taking away a citizen who has lawfully submitted a complaint letter in front of the provincial public security agency's door has torn off the last disguise of so-called 'governing the country by law'. This is not only a blatant deprivation of citizens' supervisory power but also exposes the extreme ferocity and lack of restraint of the grassroots stability maintenance system. When national petitioning and law enforcement venues become traps to 'lure the snake out of its hole', local public power has completely degenerated into a violent tool maintained by public taxes and stabilized by private punishments."

Regarding Yu Ping's disappearance and Ye Feixia's long-term torture, netizens and human rights activists have made severe demands and public appeals to the relevant departments of Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City:

Immediately Verify and Report Yu Ping's Whereabouts: Demand that the relevant departments immediately intervene in the investigation, publicly announce Yu Ping's personal safety situation to society and her family, and unconditionally restore her freedom.

Thoroughly Investigate the Legality of Mental Hospital Admission and Seriously Pursue Responsibility: Thoroughly investigate the truth behind Ye Feixia's forced detention and medical abuse. Seriously investigate and punish the illegal and criminal acts of involved officials such as Zhou Xiaojun, Xue Yuan-you, and Ge Daoyu, as well as Dr. Wang Jun of Gulou Hospital, and pursue their responsibility for abusing power, intentional injury, and corruption (misuse of stability maintenance funds).
