Under the Tyranny of "Legitimate" Silencing: Nanjing Orphan Exposes "Fengqiao Benchmark" Before Being Forced to Disappear, "Being Mentally Ill" Scandal Reignites Outrage
Nanjing orphan Ye Feixia, who held a medical certificate proving she was healthy, was forced into disappearance for half a year. The "Fengqiao" police station involved in the case was accused of falsifying procedures, and 56 citizens from across the country jointly called for the case to be transferred to a higher authority for investigation and for Ye's rescue.
In the shadow of authoritarian rule, ordinary people without a background can become the next victim to be crushed by the system at any time. The tragic experience of Nanjing orphan Ye Feixia has once again exposed the darkest corner of the Chinese Communist Party's "stability maintenance" machine
- forcibly detaining normal citizens in mental hospitals for torture, and using the state apparatus to enforce illegal forced disappearances.
As of July 24, 2026, Ye Feixia has been "erased" from public view for six months. In the face of the local authorities' strict blockade and collusion with public power, 56 rights-defending citizens from over 10 provinces across the country have issued a joint statement, signing a "Duty Application" that directly points to the criminal behavior of the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Liuhe Branch, Zhutun Police Station, demanding that the case be transferred to a higher authority for investigation and that the victim be rescued immediately.
I. "No Illness" but Sent to a Mental Hospital: The Cruel Persecution of the "Stability Maintenance" System Against the Orphan Girl
Ye Feixia, who lives in Liuhe District, Nanjing, has no parents, no children, and no spouse. She has no power background and is the weakest in society. This ordinary woman, who was living a peaceful life, was subjected to brutal suppression and beating by the local authorities in Jiangsu Province because she was defending her rights legally. She was even forcibly detained in a mental hospital and suffered inhumane torture.
The ironic and outrageous fact is that Ye Feixia had a "no mental illness" diagnosis report from a regular, authoritative hospital. However, under the logic of "stability maintenance above the law," the scientific diagnosis of a regular doctor is not as powerful as a single sentence from a local official. Detaining healthy citizens as "mentally ill" has become a means of political persecution used by local governments, which is the most cost-effective way to cover up the truth and destroy people's will.
On January 24, 2026, after Ye Feixia issued a desperate warning on her social media, she went to the Jiangsu Provincial Petitions and Letters Office and was immediately taken away by unknown persons, losing all contact. This kind of forced disappearance of petitioners is no different from "legal kidnapping" enforced by public power.

II. The Hypocrisy and Ugliness of the "Fengqiao-Style Police Station": Being Both the Defendant and the Investigator
The most suffocating law enforcement scandal in this case lies in the deep-seated interest ties between the involved unit, the Zhutun Police Station of the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Liuhe Branch, and the persecution behavior:
- Being both the defendant and the judge, with no procedural justice: Before Ye Feixia disappeared, she had reported the illegal behavior of the Zhutun Police Station to the Ministry of Public Security. Afterwards, she was taken away and lost contact. Letting a unit under investigation "investigate" its own victim is not only an absurdity of legal procedure but also a blatant trampling of judicial justice.
- Officially fabricating records: On March 5, 2026, when the Zhutun Police Station (police number
- faced complaints from citizens through the 12345 hotline, they blatantly fabricated a false record of "having contacted by phone." The public power's fabrication is so rampant and arrogant.
- Collusion between the police and the hospital, blocking hope for survival: On April 27, 2026, when Ye Feixia's family went to the Yining Hospital for a visit, the security guard blurted out: "The Zhutun Police Station came and said that anyone looking for Ye Feixia would be arrested!" The medical institution has become an accomplice to the black jail, and the police have become the watchdogs of evil, completely depriving the victim of human rights and isolating them from the world.
More ironically, the Zhutun Police Station was highly praised by the Chinese Communist Party authorities as a "Fengqiao-Style Police Station" in February
- The so-called "benchmark" of "contradictions not leaving the village, peace not leaving the matter" has become a symbol of tyranny that "solves the people who raise questions" and uses falsification and violence to eliminate victims.
III. Systemic Shifting of Responsibility: Higher Authorities Lose Function, Becoming Accomplices to Persecution
In the past six months, over 50 righteous citizens have appealed through various channels such as 110, 12345, the Provincial Public Security Department, and the Provincial Petitions and Letters Office, only to be met with cold, unfeeling silence and buck-passing.

On July 21, 2026, rights-defending citizens once again filed a complaint with the Jiangsu Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Provincial Public Security Department, and the Provincial Petitions and Letters Office. However, these three provincial-level core departments, which should supervise the lower levels, unanimously passed the buck back to the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau. The shifting of responsibility and connivance among higher authorities have proven that the persecution of rights-defending citizens is not just an "overstepping" by individual grassroots police officers but a collective crime by the entire system from top to bottom, which cold-bloodedly disregards citizens' basic human rights.
IV. 56 Citizens Across the Country Roar in Anger: We Will Not Let the Next Victim Be Ourselves
Under tyranny, no one can guarantee that they will not be the next Ye Feixia. In the face of the long darkness, the conscience and resistance of the people have never been extinguished.
Nanjing rights-defending citizen Yu Ping has taken the lead, launching a cross-provincial joint signature action. As of July 24, 2026, 56 citizens from over 10 provinces and cities across the country, including Jiangsu, Guangdong, Anhui, Shaanxi, Henan, Shanxi, Chongqing, Xinjiang, Shandong, and Hebei, have signed the application, publicly putting forward rigid demands to the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department and the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau:
- Must avoid and transfer jurisdiction: Strip the Zhutun Police Station of all jurisdiction, and let the Nanjing Municipal Bureau's criminal investigation department or an out-of-town public security agency take over the case!
- Immediately investigate and release Ye Feixia: Severely punish the perpetrators, and return the victim's personal freedom!
- Provide a written notification of the results: Give society and citizens a public and legal explanation!
The whereabouts of Ye Feixia are a test of the Nanjing authorities' legal bottom line, as well as a test of the conscience of the entire society. Overseas human rights organizations and the international community will continue to focus on the next actions of the Nanjing authorities, and will not allow this case of forced disappearance under the guise of "being mentally ill" to be covered up in silence!
