Wang Fai-shik has lost contact again.
On 6 October, several friends were unable to contact the Hunan East Timorese defender for several days. The telephone, the Internet and contacts with acquaintances have not taken him back. For a common person, “temporary failure” may be a life episode; For Wang Fai-shik, it means, first and foremost, another risk — that he has been forcibly placed in a psychiatric hospital by the police five times in the past five years.
This failure occurred after he was again taken to hospital in May this year. Friends are not sure if he is again under control or whether he is still in the process of being put to rest.

Wang Fai-shik, a famous Internet king, has been involved in street advocacy and sensitive cases for a long time. He has expressed solidarity with Hong Kong's “Main” and has been present at the trial in the Fan Mugen case and the Chang Shu rain case, as well as in many civic solidarity events.
The consequences of these actions are not merely summonses and stalking. According to information compiled by Rights, Wang Fai-Chang was forcibly placed in a psychiatric hospital five times between 2021 and 2026.
In China ' s security system, the admission of visitors and dissenters to psychiatric institutions is not new. (b) The fact that, as early as 2010, there were cases of human rights defenders entering the psychiatric hospital to investigate “psychiatric” visitors; Civil society organizations have long documented similar cases.
The special feature of “psychiatry” is that it circumvents normal criminal proceedings. (b) If a person is in criminal detention, at least in theory, there are charges, coercive measures and lawyer procedures; Once put into a “medical” framework, restrictions on personal freedom may be dressed in a therapeutic clothing.

Wang Fai-shikian has been sent to medical care five times, why has there never been a public legal review?
The Mental Health Act requires medical and legal conditions for involuntary hospitalization, but in the case of stabilization, it is never only the hospital ' s medical record that is really worth asking who decides to send a person in, what role the police play, whether the family can refuse, and whether it is possible to apply for an independent assessment.
Wang Fai-shikian's experience has been re-emerged in the same structure: political activities or advocacy, controlled, disconnected, and medically taken, and the outside world has since relied on friends and civil society human rights networks to work together.
The most effective place for this mechanism is precisely where it obscures responsibility. The police can be described as “dependant”, hospitals as “therapeutic” and local governments as “risk disposal”. Ultimately, a citizen loses his freedom, and no institution needs to publicly explain the full chain of responsibility.
This time, first of all, we have to answer: Where is Wang Fai-shik?
There is no public information on the exact whereabouts of Wang Fai-shikang's missing link. This fact is in itself sufficiently serious, as his past experience means that each sudden loss of contact must be treated as a potential personal liberty risk.
The basic responsibility of the local police and the Government is not to allow friends to continue their speculation, but to indicate whether Wang Fai-shik is controlled by any State body, whether he is sent to a medical institution and, if so, what the legal basis and medical procedures are.
The Xi-Ping security system is increasingly well positioned to package political control into administration, medical, community and risk management. Wang Fai-shik was taken from public space again and again, which is why the most dangerous place for this power is not the public statement that it “captures dissidents”, but rather that it can make a person disappear outside the criminal justice system.
The most important issue for Wang Fai-shikian is not even a grand institutional discussion, but a basic sentence: Where is he now?
