One Year After Disappearance in Beijing: Yin Xu'an's Whereabouts Remain Unknown, Health Condition Raises Continuous Concerns

Human rights defender Yin Xu'an has been missing for over a year after seeking medical treatment in Beijing. Amnesty International is calling on the Chinese authorities to disclose his whereabouts and ensure his access to medical care and legal representation, as his pre-existing health conditions, including a history of strokes and high blood pressure, have raised ongoing concerns.

Yin Xu'an, a human rights defender from Hubei, disappeared after seeking emergency medical treatment in Beijing, and it has been over a year since his disappearance. Amnesty International issued an urgent action on July 30, stating that Yin Xu'an was reportedly taken away by authorities in August 2025, and since then, his family and supporters have been unable to confirm his whereabouts.

Front Line Defenders' records show that he had suffered a stroke and developed high blood pressure during his previous imprisonment.

Amnesty International is demanding that the Chinese authorities immediately disclose Yin Xu'an's whereabouts, ensure that he can contact his family and a lawyer of his choice, and receive full medical treatment. If he is being detained solely for peacefully exercising his human rights, he should be released immediately.

Currently, there is limited public information available about whether Yin Xu'an has been formally arrested, where he is being held, and whether he has received medical treatment. The Chinese government has not released any statements that can be independently verified.

The core human rights issue of enforced disappearance or secret detention lies in the fact that individuals are removed from normal legal procedures. Family members do not know where the person is, lawyers cannot intervene, and the outside world cannot inspect the detention conditions.
