Taiwan's annual national defense assessment says Beijing has strengthened surrounding air-controlled naval operations but still lacks comprehensive capabilities for invasion.

The latest annual assessment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan described the military activities of the Liberation Army around Taiwan as more frequent and more difficult to predict, and warned that Beijing was strengthening its air and sea control capabilities to prepare for blocking and cutting off Taiwan’s external traffic lines.
